Aside from the fact it’s the most fun we’ve ever had (but bloomin’ hard work too), there are lots of reasons we wanted to grow our own flowers when we moved to Cornwall. Here are the main three…
1. We want to reduce our reliance on imported flowers and provide you with a better alternative
Which in turn reduces our carbon footprint. As soon as our season allows we use as many homegrown and British flowers as possible – only importing what we need to ensure we can offer bouquets when British flowers aren’t available. Last year we had a 9-week sending streak of 100% homegrown flowers in every single product we sent out, saving one tonne of CO2 compared to using only imported flowers for the same period.
2. To make sending flowers a better experience
We have the privilege of being able to grow the varieties and colours of flowers that we want to use. We are passionate about offering our customers beautiful flowers as well as bringing you more unusual colours and varieties that stand out from the crowd.
3. We can improve the health of our land
We take our commitment to a planet-first approach very seriously. Our aim is always to improve the biodiversity of our land. We do this using regenerative farming practices, such as the no-dig method, avoiding artificial pesticides, allowing our mixed herd to fertilise the land and leaving half of the land we manage to local wildlife.
