This is an entry level position to join the on-site team at Petalon here in Cornwall. Petalon is a business that encompasses floristry, flower farming and studio work and though the primary focus of this role will be in our growing fields we do expect the successful candidate to get involved with all aspects of the business where required.

The role:
Studio based tasks – packaging and despatch of flower products. Taking delivery of flowers from the field / suppliers and conditioning them for the florist team.
Field work – All aspects of cut flower production from seed to harvest.
Propagation including sowing and seedling care, division of seedlings, following and updating the crop plan.
Cultivation including bed preparation, planting out, weeding, weeding, crop protection and pest management.
Harvesting of flowers including the identification and cutting of crops to specific quantities and standards.
Field maintenance including strimming, mowing and the cleaning of farm infrastructure.
Experience & Skills:
Someone who works hard, learns fast and uses their initiative. You must be someone with the humility to start at the bottom of our business and who is conscientious enough to do excellent work when nobody is watching. We expect you to be organised and proactive, but also willing to follow processes and procedures, working well with others as a team.
We are looking for someone with horticultural knowledge and ideally horticultural working experience (or similar). The ideal candidate would be passionate about productive growing and happy working in all weathers.
Preferred but not essential:
Level 2 RHS
Experience with grass-cutting equipment
Considerations:
We are based in Rejerrah, between Newquay and Perranporth. Please do not apply if you do not have to means to get to us independently. Public transport to our farm is unfortunately almost non-existent.
This is a junior role. The successful applicant must be comfortable being managed by others until they are ready to take on responsibility for their own areas of the business.
Hours:
Either 4 or 5 days a week, depending on your circumstances, including 1 weekend a month (on rotation).

Salary:
£22,500 PA pro rata (£18,000 PA based on 4 days a week)
