Petalon is a better kind of flower delivery service.
We are certified carbon neutral and donate 100% of our profits to UK conservation projects. Ordinarily a business’s end of year profits are retained by the business or paid to the directors as dividends (usually both). We will be doing neither, instead opting to give these profits to conservation projects.
Our mission is to care for the land for which we are responsible, the staff we employ and the customers we serve. This is enough motivation for us to grow this business to be the best it can be, without excessive financial incentive.
Petalon was founded by Florence Kennedy in East London in 2014, shortly after her husband James began his bicycle manufacturing business.
When James needed to send a bunch of flowers one day, they both realised there wasn’t much choice if you wanted to send something beautiful and original for a reasonable price. Surrounded by James’s bicycles, Florence and James began to form an idea for a better kind of flower delivery.
Petalon was born, with the aim of offering beautiful yet affordable flowers, in a more conscious way.
When we moved our family to Cornwall in May 2020 the additional space gave us the opportunity to start growing our own flowers. This has meant we can offer our customers more unusual varieties and colours of flowers that are grown on our own doorstep.
We now have 26 acres of land, some of which is devoted to our growing operation but more than half of which is dedicated to local wildlife.
This is where we chronicle our hopes, dreams and plans for the business and the farm.
We cover pretty much everything from how we make choices about which flowers to grow to the techniques we use to keep them happy and healthy (without pesticides or synthetic fertilisers). We also talk about how the business operates and there’s even the occasional recipe thrown in for good measure.
